KLK Recognised in Forbes Asia’s 200 Best Over A Billion 2019
Thursday, 28 August 2019

Forbes announced their inaugural “Forbes Asia’s 200 Best Over A Billion 2019” list yesterday (28 August 2019), showcasing the top 200 performing listed companies in the Asia Pacific region with revenues of USD$1 billion or more.

We are pleased to announce that Kuala Lumpur Kepong Berhad (KLK) made it on the list, and are one of the only six Malaysian companies to be recognised.

According to Forbes, their goal was to find the region’s best-run outfits that are doing well on not just one metric but across many of them. The final result is a list that represents the best of Asia Pacific’s big companies.

This new list also complements the long-established “Best Under A Billion” of 200 best performing, small and mid-sized companies in the Asia Pacific region with less than $1 billion in revenue. Combined, it comprehensively covers all of Asia-Pacific’s best listed companies.

The search started with a pool of 3,200 listed companies in the region. They are then ranked from the smallest to the biggest, using the USD$1 billion in revenue benchmark within a company’s latest financial year as the dividing line.

Unprofitable companies and those whose sales declined in the past five years were next to be eliminated.

Next off the list were companies carrying long-term debt equal to or greater than half their capital, and those with glaring governance or legal problems.

Forbes Asia then ran the remaining contenders through more than a dozen other metrics to earn them a place in the final list of the best-200, including:

  • average five-year sales;
  • operating income growth;
  • return on capital;
  • and projected growth over the next one to two years;

We are delighted with the news of our inclusion in Forbes Asia’s 200 Best Over A Billion 2019 list and we would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their contribution towards this recognition.
