Within the palm oil sector, traceability remains an important and challenging goal. At KLK, the palm products that we produce are traceable right up to our respective palm oil mills, refineries and kernel crushing plants.
Nevertheless, the supply of palm products by our 3rd party suppliers can be very onerous to trace due to the inherent complexities within the supply chain. These supplies may originate from smallholders, small growers, palm oil mills, refineries or other palm products production plants. KLK will continue to engage with them to further improve and enhance our traceability mechanism. While all these ongoing efforts are taking place, periodic updates on the developments shall be made available in this tab.
Smallholders & Small Growers
A collaboration work with our local NGO partner on a Smallholders Project was initiated with the aim to support traceable and sustainable, deforestation-free production of palm products by smallholders. This Project was inaugurated at our Bornion Palm Oil Mill in Sabah which has since brought about many engagements with the respective smallholders and small growers.
The project model from this region is expected to be introduced to other regions where we operate in, for example Peninsular Malaysia and Indonesia, in our journey towards traceable palm products.
